Electric or manual toothbrush?

Dentists will tell you that a manual toothbrush can be as effective as an electric model if used correctly, but most patients simply do not wash well and floss as long as it should. In these cases, an electric toothbrush can help by maximizing the power of cleaning.

Some dentists recommend electric toothbrushes because they:

• Monitors during brushing,
• Make teeth whiter by reducing surface stains;
• remove more plaque;
• Combat gingivitis better than manual toothbrushes ;

Advantages manual toothbrush:

• Cost and availability;
• Manual toothbrushes are cheaper and more accessible;
• Not bulky like an electric toothbrush and you can easily take trips and vacations;
• You can put less pressure on teeth and gums;

With an electric model may not feel as well how much pressure is exerted on the teeth? The pressure on the teeth can damage tooth enamel, causing pain, tenderness and an increased risk of caries.
